When purchasing a dehumidifier or any other appliance, it is important that you trust the brand you are getting.
But if you’re shopping for a dehumidifier, it can feel overwhelming to choose one from hundreds of models and dozens of brands on the market.
That’s why we compiled this guide to highlight the best dehumidifier brands that have earned the most trust from users over the years. Our goal is to make this the best resource for dehumidifier brands so that you can compare data across brands more easily.
Below we’ve summarized the top selling brands of dehumidifiers today. They each offer different types of dehumidifiers in a range of sizes suitable for different spaces and applications.
So what are the best dehumidifiers today? As you can see below, there are a lot of brand options – so the real answer for you still depends on your specific needs. A dehumidifier for a boat is a lot different than a dehumidifier for a bedroom. Beyond the top picks, we have specific review pages for the top brands as well as guides to teach you what to look for in a dehumidifier.
Top Dehumidifier Brands
Frigidaire
Frigidaire is a well-known and trusted brand of quality home appliances, including refrigerators, air conditioners, and dehumidifiers. Today, Frigidaire remains one of the best dehumidifier brands and a top choice for homeowners. They have a wide selection of Energy Star certified dehumidifiers, with capacities ranging from 22 pints to 60 pints per day (previously 30 pints to 95 pints).
One of the biggest advantages of Frigidaire dehumidifiers over other brands is the powerful moisture removal with high CFM fans. While most other dehumidifiers only feature two fan speeds, Frigidaire includes three options. Furthermore, Frigidaire dehumidifiers (from 35 pints to 60 pints) have a top exhaust that contributes to more pleasant noise output.
Frigidaire also stands out for its exceptional performance in low temperatures down to 41°F. This reliable dehumidifier is specifically designed to operate in colder temperatures, it doesn’t have an auto defrost mode which turns off the unit periodically to melt ice. With all its high-end features, Frigidaire is also on the higher end in terms of price. You can also find our detailed review of the 50-pint Frigidaire unit here.
Frigidaire offers the following dehumidifier models with a one-year warranty:
FFAD2233W1 22-pint
FFAD3533W1 35-pint
FFAD5033W1 50-pint
FGAC5044W1 50-pint with Wi-Fi
FFAP5033W1 50-pint with Built-in Pump
FFAD6022W1 60-pint
hOmeLabs
Often coming only second to Frigidaire, hOmeLabs is one of the best-rated portable dehumidifiers, and for good reason. It is a highly effective and efficient yet budget-friendly option that offers almost everything most homeowners need.
hOmeLabs dehumidifiers appear in a neutral shade that blends well with your modem home interior. However, many users have issues with the poor build quality compared to more expensive brands. Based on the build quality alone, a hOmeLabs unit is evidently budget-priced. However, this isn’t the only indicator of its reliability.
Overall, in terms of performance, efficiency, and noise levels, hOmeLabs is among the best you can get at a good value. It’s available in 22-pint, 35-pint, 50-pint, and with built-in pump. All units are guaranteed by a warranty of two years.
LG
LG is another one of the best brands for home appliances and electronics with advanced features including inverter refrigerators and air conditioners. This multinational company is based in Seoul, South Korea. LG currently offers only one dehumidifier capacity: the LG PuriCare UD501KOG5 and UD501KOJ5 both in 50-pint. These dehumidifier models are in line with LG’s stylish design and new, unique features that ensure your safety.
Previously rated 70-pint, these dehumidifiers have only been in the market since 2019 but have proved to be strong competitors. The standard 50-pint unit includes almost any function you can find in similar dehumidifiers. It stands taller and slimmer than most 50-pint units and features an elegant black exterior with a non-flammable metal frame and external metal case, as well as heat-resistant glass fiber and silicone wire enclosures. Along with the Airflow Blockage alarm, LG also incorporates Safety Standby to shut off the unit for one hour after 23 hours of continuous operation to prevent overheating.
The UD501KOJ5 unit features a built-in pump and SmartThinQ compatibility. You can control the operation, monitor bucket capacity, and receive full bucket alerts from your smartphone or connect the unit with Amazon Alexa or Google Assistant for voice controls. As you can expect, LG is on the higher end in terms of price. Find our detailed reviews of the LG dehumidifiers here.
General Electric
GE Appliances, formerly owned by the General Electric Company, is an American home appliance company that manufactures products under several brand names, including GE and Haier. GE is popular worldwide for home appliances such as refrigerators and air conditioners. It currently offers three portable dehumidifier models, in 20-pint, 35-pint, and 50-pint capacities. You can find both new and old models on the market, so it can be confusing to choose.
Older models available include the ADEL20LY 20-pint, GE ADEL35LZ 35-pint, and APER50LZ 50-pint with built-in pump. These models are typically cheaper than similar units. They have three fan speeds but the timer can only be set for two or four hours. The new models featuring SmartDry technology include ADHR22LB 22-pint, ADHR35LB 35-pint, and ADHR50LB 50-pint with built-in pump and Wi-Fi options. All units come with a one-year warranty. FInd our more detailed reviews of GE dehumidifiers here.
Haier
Haier is a multinational home appliances and electronics company based in China. Since the company’s acquisition of GE Appliances, both Haier and GE dehumidifiers have featured similar designs and functionality. They have almost the same control panel, as well as a top exhaust and hose outlet on the side.
Haier is also available in 22-pint (QDHR20LZ), 35-pint (QDHR35LZ), and 50-pint (QDHR50LZ) with built-in pump option (QPHR50LZ). Although they are essentially the same as GE dehumidifiers, some people prefer a more popular name like GE. Haier makes some solid options though, check out our Haier dehumidifier reviews here.
BLACK+DECKER
BLACK+DECKER manufactures a variety of power tools, garden tools, and home appliances such as air conditioners and dehumidifiers. It currently offers dehumidifiers ranging from 22 to 50 pints in capacity. This new dehumidifier line has very few reviews yet but almost all features are similar to the older ones except for the smaller water tanks due to the smaller build of the new ones. However, they do come with a drain hose (although too short at only 0.5 meters) for continuous draining via gravity.
BLACK+DECKER is popular for quiet operation and high energy efficiency. While this brand is not the cheapest option, energy efficient dehumidifiers will give you greater savings in the long run. You can find our reviews for BLACK+DECKER dehumidifiers here.
The following dehumidifier models also come with a one-year warranty:
BD50MWSA
BD50PMWSA
BD30MWSA
BD22MWSA
Honeywell
Honeywell is a multinational corporation headquartered in North Carolina. It offers a variety of home air quality products such as dehumidifiers, humidifiers, air conditioners, and air purifiers. Its current dehumidifier line ranges from 20 to 50 pints. Honeywell dehumidifiers rank around average in terms of quality and construction compared with other top-rated brands like Frigidaire.
It has a top exhaust, an extendable top handle, power cord storage on the back, and four wheels for portability. Honeywell’s unique feature is the relative humidity mirage display on the front of the unit which allows you to monitor humidity levels easily from across the room.
Honeywell has most features you’ll find in conventional dehumidifiers today. However, it doesn’t have text labels on the control panel and it could take a while to get used to the control buttons and indicator lights. Another disadvantage is the length of the drain hose included. One meter may be too short for some, so it might be better to purchase a garden hose or simply use the water tank.
While most dehumidifiers come with an industry-standard one-year warranty, Honeywell guarantees an additional two- to five-year warranty on internal components and labor on the following units:
Honeywell TP30WK
Honeywell TP50WK
Honeywell TP70PWK
Honeywell TP70AWKN

Toshiba
Toshiba is a Japan-based electronics brand that offers high-powered dehumidifiers in 35-pint and 50-pint. Toshiba is a well-trusted brand of standard-priced appliances. In terms of build quality, it’s about average when compared with other dehumidifiers of similar sizes.
It has most of the features you can find in any modern dehumidifier including continuous draining options through a drain hose or built-in pump. However, the common Toshiba products below are usually only available at Home Depot:
TDDP5012ES2
TDD3512ES2
TDD5012ES2P

Whirlpool
Whirlpool is another known brand of home appliances. This US-based world-class company offers a wide range of dehumidifiers for your home or office needs. From medium-sized rooms to large basements, you can find the perfect Whirlpool dehumidifier at an affordable price. It currently offers six dehumidifiers:
WHAD201CW
WHAD301CW
WHAD401CW
WHAD40PCW
WHAD501CW
WHAD50PCW
The Whirlpool 20-pint is ideal for small rooms up to 250 square feet, the 30-pint for small basements up to 400 square feet. For medium to large rooms, the 40-pint and 50-pint units cover 500 square feet, and 650 square feet, respectively.
Keep in mind that this particular line of Whirlpool dehumidifiers has only been out on the market only quite recently. Although, in the short time that it has been available, it has received mostly 5 stars from early customer reviews. You can find our detailed review for Whirlpool dehumidifiers here.
Vremi
Vremi manufactures a variety of home appliances including portable dehumidifiers for home use. The flagship Moisture Maniac dehumidifiers are guaranteed quick and effective in removing excess moisture in rooms from small to large sizes. For tiny rooms, Vremi also gives you an option for a thermoelectric dehumidifier.
In terms of the quality of construction, Vremi dehumidifiers are comparable to other highly-rated dehumidifiers, particularly hOmeLabs as they actually have a similar design, from the buttons on the control panel to the side exhaust and a handle on each side. Vremi is also relatively quiet considering it has a side exhaust. The manufacturer claims noise levels of 55 to 60 decibels, which is on the quieter side for compressor-based units. On the other hand, the Peltier unit is a very quiet dehumidifier with noise output as low as 35 decibels.
While other brands also offer high-capacity units with a built-in pump version, this isn’t the case for Vremi. Additionally, Vremi comes with an industry-standard one-year warranty for the following models:
Vremi 50-pint
Vremi 35-pint
Vremi 22-pint
Vremi 1-pint
You can find our detailed reviews for Vremi dehumidifiers here.
Amana
American brand Amana has been manufacturing household appliances for decades. After its acquisition from Whirlpool Corporation, the Chinese company Haier now manufactures the Amana dehumidifiers. This means that Amana dehumidifiers today may not be of the same standards you expect from other Amana appliances. Amana currently offers Energy Star rated 35-pint AMAD351BW and 48-pint AMAD481BW dehumidifiers suitable for small spaces.
Both these dehumidifiers have a similar structure to other brands but the louvers around each side of the unit make it look chunkier. Additionally, the small control panel could do with some upgrade on the design and layout. It also comes with a removable air filter but you can only access it by first removing the water bucket and pulling the filter down from under the unit.
We could not find enough information on the dehumidifier’s actual performance from user reviews, but if you’re interested, you can check out this similarly designed older Amana unit, AMAD501AW. Like most dehumidifiers, Amana comes with a standard one-year warranty. You can find our detailed Amana dehumidifier reviews here.
Danby
Danby is a Canada-based manufacturer of small home appliances such as dehumidifiers and air conditioners. It offers Energy Star certified dehumidifiers ranging from 22 to 50 pints for different room sizes. There are few reviews for the newer models but overall, Danby ranks high among average dehumidifiers today. It features almost anything you need and usually at a more affordable price than top brands.
There are no labels for the buttons on the control panel but the unit is simple enough to set up and use for almost anyone. There is no information on the tank capacity and the continuous draining option requires a standard garden hose and a female threaded end (not included with the purchase). The following models are guaranteed with a two-year warranty:
DDR020BJWDB
DDR030BJWDB
DDR050BJWDB
DDR050BLPBDB

What to Look For in a Dehumidifier
Moisture Removal Capacity
This refers to the total volume of water the dehumidifier can remove from the air in 24 hours, typically measured in pints. The Department of Energy determines the pint ratings of dehumidifiers and the testing standards for them. Starting in early 2020, dehumidifiers are tested at 65°F and 60% humidity to reflect the average conditions in a basement setting. Standard portable dehumidifiers now range from 20 to 60 pints in capacity. Each rated capacity is recommended for a range of coverage areas, so it’s crucial to get the right dehumidifier capacity based on the room size and humidity levels.
Tank Capacity
Dehumidifiers collect the water in an internal tank. Once the tank is full, you will remove it from the unit, pour the water out, then reinstall the tank before the unit can resume operation. For regular dehumidifiers, you may need to do this at least once to three times a day depending on room conditions. Larger dehumidifiers typically have a larger tank capacity, but it depends on the brand and model. Most dehumidifiers also offer continuous draining options: through a drain hose (may not be included with the unit) or a built-in condensate pump.
Energy Efficiency
To make sure your dehumidifier is using the electricity it consumes efficiently, look for the Energy Star label or the integrated energy factor (IEF) in liters per kilowatt-hour (L/kWh). This guarantees that the unit can help you save up to 20% on electricity costs compared to non-Energy Star dehumidifiers. Read about energy efficient dehumidifiers in this guide.
Additional Features
Dehumidifiers usually include the auto-shutoff feature and full tank indicator light, as well as auto defrost and auto restart functions. They also offer custom humidity control with a built-in humidistat so you can set a target humidity level and the dehumidifier will automatically maintain this. Most dehumidifiers also feature an on/off timer, multiple fan speeds, and different operation modes depending on your needs.

Conclusion
We have listed twelve brands of the best dehumidifiers offering a wide variety of sizes and extra features perfect for your home use. Almost all units are certified by Energy Star to ensure high efficiency and greater savings in the long run. When making a purchase, make sure to check the dehumidifier’s capacity you need for your space, the energy efficiency, as well as other necessary features. Manufacturers should provide enough information on each dehumidifier model to help you decide.
The dehumidifiers above are all compressor-based. For small rooms, you can look for thermoelectric dehumidifiers or desiccant dehumidifiers. To help you find the best dehumidifiers for specific rooms and purposes, you can check out our dehumidifier buying guides.
In summary, we recommend Frigidaire for overall high performance and energy efficiency, hOmeLabs for ease of use and affordability, and LG for more unique and advanced features. These brands are well-known and trusted in domestic and international markets, but the best option still depends on your individual needs.
