Waykar Dehumidifier Reviews
Waykar PD253B
Waykar’s best dehumidifier is this high-capacity portable unit which removes a maximum of 70 pints of moisture per day under 95°F and 90% relative humidity. It can cover large rooms or basements up to 4,500 square feet.
WIth humidity auto control, you can set your desired humidity level from 30% to 80% in 5% increments. After setting, the digital display will show the current humidity. The unit will automatically stop when the ambient humidity becomes lower than your setting, and start again when humidity rises. Below the control panel is the air outlet grille which exhausts air in four directions for a quick and whisper quiet dehumidification.
The top display also includes a 24-hour Auto Stop or Auto Start timer and the fan speed button to choose between fast and slow speed. The indicator lights will determine whether the timer is set and which mode you are currently operating in.

If you need to use it at night, press the Light button to turn off the LED panel light except the Power ON light. Press and hold the Lock button for two seconds to lock the control panel and avoid accidentally changing the settings. When turning off, the dehumidifier saves your last setting and resumes operation with the same setting after turning on. In case of a power outage, the unit will also restart operation with your last settings.
While this unit is incredibly light and compact, the small 4.5-liter/1.18-gallon water tank will need to be emptied up to five times on a hot and humid summer day. It’s equipped with the automatic shut-off function and an indicator light when the tank is full. Simply pull out the water tank from the back of the dehumidifier and pour the content into the sink or drain. If you don’t have time for manual draining, use the included 6.56-ft (2 meter) drain hose to allow continuous drainage through gravity.
Like other compressor dehumidifiers, this Waykar unit should not be operated in low temperatures for extended periods. When frost is detected on the coils, the dehumidifier will go on Auto Defrost mode and the indicator light will illuminate. The compressor will stop and the fan will run at high speed to melt the ice. This unit also comes with a washable filter on the back to catch dust as the air enters.
Although this model is marketed as a 70-pint dehumidifier, it will remove a much lesser amount of moisture in actual use. With an IEF of 1.3L/kWh, it’s actually below average in energy efficiency. However, the quiet operation and compact structure are some of its best selling points.
Pros
- High moisture removal rate
- Compact and portable design
- Easy-to-use control panel
- Quiet operation
- Continuous draining option with hose included
Cons
- Small tank capacity for its size
- Low energy efficiency
Waykar PD160B
Waykar’s most popular dehumidifier is this model which can remove up to 34 pints of moisture per day in areas up to 2,000 square feet. (But be careful because some stores call this unit a 40-pint dehumidifier.) It has a similar structure to most residential dehumidifiers with the air intake at the back and a top exhaust and control panel.
You can adjust humidity from 30% to 80% in 5% increments and the unit will cycle on and off to maintain your desired level. If you set the humidity to 30%, the unit will operate in Continuous mode. The control panel features four buttons including the power, humidity setting, timer, and adjustable fan speeds. The Timer allows you to delay start or delay stop between one and 24 hours. The digital display will show the current humidity, the remaining time, as well as indicator lights to determine the working status.

This unit has a small 0.66 gallon/2.5 L water tank with a transparent water level window on the front of the unit. When the tank is full, the unit will shut off automatically and the “Full” indicator light will illuminate. Alternatively, if you want your dehumidifier to run continuously, simply attach the included drain hose to the drainage outlet on the back of the unit to enable automatic draining. Make sure that the unit is higher than the drain and the hose is in a downward position to allow gravity to pull the water.
Like most compressor dehumidifiers, Waykar operates in temperatures between 41°F and 95°F (5°C and 35°C). In low temperatures,, the unit goes in auto defrost mode to prevent frost buildup that may damage the machine. Additionally, this unit comes with an easily accessible and washable filter for a better air quality. This portable dehumidifier is ideal for a small basement, garage, laundry room, bathroom, and even a bedroom due to its low noise levels. It has an extendable top handle and four smooth-gliding wheels for easy movement. The air outlet on top can be adjusted to help dry your laundry. It’s a great dehumidifier overall, but on the downside, this Waykar unit isn’t the most energy efficient you can find at this size.
Pros
- Light and portable
- Quiet operation
- Continuous drainage with hose included
Cons
- Small tank
Waykar PD100A
For smaller spaces with less severe humidity problems, this compact and portable Waykar dehumidifier can remove up to 30 pints of moisture per day in areas up to 1500 square feet. Similar to other Waykar dehumidifiers, you can adjust humidity on the control panel from 30% to 80% and the unit will automatically maintain your preferred setting. The digital display will show the current humidity a few seconds after setting.
Likewise, this small dehumidifier has a small water tank with a capacity of 0.48 gal or 1.8L. It’s equipped with the standard auto shutoff feature with the corresponding Full Tank indicator light and alert system. This portable dehumidifier also comes with a 6.56 ft drain hose that you can attach to the drain outlet for continuous drainage.

This unit has a quiet fan for quick and quiet moisture removal. You can also set the timer to turn on or turn off the unit automatically after one to 24 hours, and choose from two fan speeds. It has all the necessary indicators so you can easily monitor operation and you need not worry when it’s defrosting and not dehumidifying. In case of a power interruption, auto restart saves your setting and resumes operation as soon as the power comes back.
For a small dehumidifier, this Waykar unit comes with most any feature you might need, including a washable air filter. This model was released into the market quite recently, and it’s still early to say how reliable it is in the long term. However, if you want the most portable 30-pint dehumidifier, then you can’t go wrong with this one.
Pros
- Light and portable
- Continuous drainage with hose included
- Quiet operation
Cons
- Small tank
Waykar YDA-858E
Aside from portable dehumidifiers, Waykar is also known for commercial-grade dehumidifiers suitable for large areas. This particular commercial dehumidifier can remove a maximum of 130 pints (16.3 gal) of water per day. With an airflow of 180 cubic feet per minute (CFM), it can cover any space up to 6,000 square feet.
The control panel mounted on top includes the intuitive LCD display and control buttons for the humidity setting, timer, and fan. You can adjust the humidity level from 10% to 90% RH in 1% increment. When turning on, the dehumidifier will first show the current humidity on the digital display. Remember to set the humidity at least 3% lower than the current level, otherwise the dehumidifier will not operate. If you set the humidity to 30% RH, the unit will operate in Continuous mode. You can also set a timer on or off from one to 24 hours, and choose between Low or High fan speed.

When the 5-liter water tank is full, the Full Tank indicator light will illuminate and the dehumidifier will shut off automatically. Open the door on the back and pull the tank out to empty the water. Five liters is a very small capacity, but for this size of dehumidifier you’ll probably want to use the continuous drainage anyway. Simply connect the included drain hose by removing the water tank and inserting the hose into the drain port.
Like other compressor units, this dehumidifier operates from 41°F to 95°F. Between 41°F and 68°F, the unit may stop dehumidifying periodically to defrost. This high-capacity unit is made from similar material as most residential dehumidifiers. If you need a commercial dehumidifier for extreme temperatures or harsher conditions, then this may not be the right unit for you. The sleek and modern look of this unit is more ideal for huge residential spaces or commercial areas such as a warehouse, laboratory, library, or greenhouse.
Pros
- High moisture removal rate
- Large coverage area
- Compact and portable
- Continuous draining option
Cons
- Not suitable for low temperatures
Waykar CFD2.5D

To ensure your entire family’s health and comfort, it’s important to maintain your crawl space and control the humidity levels in the whole house. For this, Waykar also has an option for the crawl space or for whole-house dehumidification. This high-capacity crawl space dehumidifier removes up to 155 pints of moisture per day in commercial spaces or homes as large as 6,500 square feet.
Unlike other models with top-mounted controls, this heavy-duty dehumidifier is designed with a removable controller with 10-meter wire as well as a humidity sensor with 5-meter wire to smartly sense room humidity. It’s perfect for the crawl space or other large areas where remote control and monitoring is required. You can set the humidity level from 10% to 98% RH and a timer on or off for up to 24 hours. The LCD display shows the current humidity, the ambient temperature or remaining time if the timer is selected, along with indicators and icons to determine the working status.
The unit also comes with a 1-meter drain hose for continuous drainage and a reusable and washable filter to remove dust and other impurities from the air. Additionally, this Waykar dehumidifier is equipped with the standard auto defrost and auto restart functions. For whole-house applications, you have multiple ducting options for this unit. One feature that may be useful in a dehumidifier of this capacity is a built-in pump, but unfortunately, Waykar doesn’t have this option. If necessary, you can purchase an external condensate pump to make draining more convenient for you in any space.
Pros
- High moisture removal rate
- Easy-to-use remote control
Cons
- Short drain hose
- No built-in pump
Alternatives to Waykar Dehumidifiers
If you’re looking for some good old compressor dehumidifier for your home, then Waykar may not be the most popular choice you’ll find. But anyway, you won’t be here if you weren’t already considering this brand. You’ve learned all about the 70-pint, 34-pint, and 30-pint units by Waykar. If you didn’t like them, or you just want to make a comparison with other brands, here are a few alternatives you may want to check out.
Some of the highest rated residential dehumidifiers include Frigidaire, hOmeLabs, Vremi, and Honeywell. The most common is the 50-pint unit, but these brands also offer smaller capacities in 20-pint or 30-pint. These models are all Energy Star Certified and tested under the dehumidifier standards determined by the Department of Energy. This simply means you can expect them to perform more closely as advertised for a reduced energy consumption.
For the crawl space, whole house, or a commercial area, you may want to consider USA-made products such as Santa Fe, Aprilaire, or AlorAir. For more information, we have more detailed guides in choosing a commercial dehumidifier for your specific needs.
Consumer Feedback on Waykar Dehumidifiers
Waykar offers a wide range of dehumidifiers for many different applications, be it in your bathroom, crawl space, basement, or a commercial area. All of these products come with a standard one-year warranty and a money-back guarantee for the first 30 days after purchase in case you’re not satisfied. If you register your product on the site, you can get the warranty extended by an additional year. I highly suggest that you take advantage of this for your peace of mind.
Through my research, one common complaint I’ve found from users is the shipping issues. The unit or its components sometimes come damaged due to poor packaging and delivery services. On the upside, most reviewers have a positive experience with the Waykar customer support team. Although, there are still a few negative comments in this regard.
Since these products and this brand as a whole are still quite new to the market, it may be too early to judge the reliability of these dehumidifiers. You should be wary though, that the capacities advertised may be far from the unit’s actual performance. Unlike the Energy Star rated dehumidifiers, Waykar and its closest competitors, Airplus, Colzer, and Kesnos, measure the maximum capacity at 95°F and 90% RH. This isn’t really a big deal and you’ll hardly notice it unless you painstakingly measure the exact amounts of moisture removed per day.
Waykar dehumidifiers are now making a good name for the brand mainly due to the affordable price, compact design, and quiet operation. Even though they are not the most effective or efficient units out there today, they still accomplish the job extremely well. If you want more information on Waykar’s dehumidifier line, feel free to go over their website.
