If you live in an area with hot and humid summers, you need more than just an air conditioning. A high indoor humidity makes the human body perceive the surrounding atmosphere even hotter than it actually is, which makes people run their AC for a longer time than they would in a less humid environment. Nevertheless, using both an AC and a dehumidifier will significantly increase your energy bills. This is where the Honeywell MN12CES comes in handy, as it works both as an air conditioner and a dehumidifier. Costing only $409.49, this is the perfect air conditioner for humid summers.
The MN12CES has a modern design, featuring a black finish and silver linings. The great thing about it is that it doesn’t drain the water, so it doesn’t need a water tank. It features a flexible exhaust hose which can be installed on a window with the use of the simple window venting kit. The window vent can easily be removed when the AC is not running. It weighs 68.3 pounds and has the following dimensions: 15.7 x 16.5 x 29.3 inches. It is not exactly lightweight, but it comes with convenient caster wheels that allow you to effortlessly move it from one room to another. The unit also features a digital LCD display with touch controls. It is incredibly convenient as it doesn’t require a permanent installation and the installation process is so simple that anyone can do it. You just mount the window vent, plug it in and adjust its settings to your preferences.
This is a 12,000 BTU portable air conditioner with an integrated dehumidifier. It is suited for areas up to 550 square feet. Its 163 CMF air flow is strong enough in order to cool your room even in the hottest summers. Its dehumidification capacity can reach up to 75 pints per day. It works as a dehumidifier, a fan, and an air conditioner, so it’s more than practical and versatile. Thanks to the non-drip technology based on an auto-evaporation system, it never leaks water.
With the use of a full function remote control, you can conveniently program it to run to your desired settings. The remote allows you access to all of the product’s features, but you can also adjust the options directly on the touch control panel. You can select between the cooling option, the dehumidification option or the fan option. The temperature range is between 61 and 90F. The AC has a 53 dbA noise level, which is rather noisy for a dehumidifier but very silent for an AC. It also features a washable electrostatic filter that can easily be accessed. The device also features an automatic shutoff timer that can be set anywhere between 1-24 hours.
|Dimensions||15.7” x 16.5” x 29.3”|
|Area Coverage||550 Square Feet|
|Dehumidification Capacity||75 Pints|
|Maximum Noise Output||53|
|Built-In Timer||24 Hours|
Despite the fact that it features an environmentally friendly compressor, it is not the most Eco-friendly option. In fact, it seems to consume about 20% more than a normal type of AC with a similar size. Nevertheless, considering the fact that it also works as a dehumidifier and that it features a portable design, we think the energy consumption is justified. If you use it for three months per year, you will have a yearly operating cost of about $121.
The window kit is very easy to install and remove. It can be used in a vertical position and it can be adjusted between 19.9 and 47.25 inches. The exhaust hose has a 5-inch diameter. Despite the fact that the hose exhausts hot air, customers say that you can leave the screen in the window, without fearing that it might melt. The fact that it can run for hours without you having to empty its bucket is a major convenience feature.
