Colzer Commercial Dehumidifiers Detailed Reviews

Colzer 232 PPD Commercial Dehumidifier

Colzer 232 PPD Commercial Dehumidifier

The Colzer CFT4.0D commercial dehumidifier features a large water removal capacity of 232 pints at saturation (90% RH, 90°F) or 110 pints under AHAM conditions (60% RH, 80°F). This commercial grade dehumidifier can cover huge spaces up to 8,000 square feet. With a powerful 353 CFM airflow, it’s ideal for many different applications such as offices, warehouses or workshops, and even residential areas damaged by flood or other water accidents.

This heavy duty dehumidifier features a control panel on top which includes the LCD screen and four buttons with an onboard automatic humidistat for low-hassle humidity control. It allows you to set your desired humidity level between 10% and 98% in the increment of 1% RH. The unit will start dehumidifying only if the ambient humidity is at least 3% higher than your setting and stop when it’s 3% lower.

When turning on, the dehumidifier will show the relative humidity on the digital display before you set your desired humidity level. If you choose 30% RH or lower, the unit will operate in Continuous mode. Just below the humidity display are the numbers indicating either the ambient temperature, or the time remaining if the 24-hour timer is selected.

The Colzer 232 PPD dehumidifier drains the condensate through a 6.56 feet (2 meter) drain hose included with the unit. To enable automatic drainage, attach the hose into the drain outlet on the side of the unit and make sure the hose is directed towards the floor drain without any kinks and obstacles. Like most other compressor-based dehumidifiers, this Colzer unit operates from 41°F to 95°F (5°C to 35°C). If the current temperature is below 40°F or higher than 113°F, the dehumidifier will stop working. When frost is detected on the coils, the dehumidifier will go on Auto Defrost mode and the Defrosting icon on the screen will illuminate.

This portable commercial dehumidifier is built with two large semi-pneumatic wheels, two flexible front casters, and a sturdy bar handle, making it more convenient to move from one job site to another despite the size and weight. It’s made with anti-collision and anti-corrosion metal outer casing for easy maintenance and long life. The unit is also guaranteed with a two-year warranty while other commercial dehumidifier brands offer up to five years. Some features we would have liked better are a longer drain hose, and even better, a built-in pump.

PROS
• High maximum moisture removal
• Effortless humidity control
• Large coverage area
• High airflow rate
• Easy to use controls
CONS
• Short drain hose
• No built-in condensate pump

Colzer 180 PPD Commercial Dehumidifier

Colzer 180 PPD Commercial Dehumidifier

One of Colzer’s newer products is this portable commercial dehumidifier that looks a lot different from the 232 PPD unit or the smaller 164 PPD. The Colzer CD190S can remove up to 180 pints of moisture per day at saturation, or 90 PPD at AHAM. It has a maximum airflow of 324 CFM, rapidly eliminating moisture in flood and water damage restoration sites, carpet cleaning, drying construction areas and other large commercial spaces up to 7,000 square feet.

This portable dehumidifier features an easy to use control panel and display which allows you to view and change the operation settings. Adjust to your ideal humidity level from 10% to 98% RH, and set the operation duration with the 24 hour timer. The LCD screen displays the current humidity level, temperature and set humidity, as well as the job hours to track your progress. The auto-restart feature ensures that the unit will automatically resume operation to your last settings in case of power outages. The Hot Gas Valve (HGV) defrosting system allows for a wider operating temperature range from 33°F to 113°F, with an Auto Defrost mode and indicator light when frost starts to form.

This Colzer industrial dehumidifier is built with large semi-pneumatic wheels and a rigid handle for easy movement from job site to job site. For added flexibility, the long PVC drain hose and power cord, can be wrapped on the winders on the back. The handle is foldable and the rotomolded outer casing is stackable to save valuable space for storage and transportation. Also included with the unit is a 10-foot drain hose and a built-in condensate pump which can move water up to 16 feet vertically. You can use an even longer hose and have it run up a drain, sink, bucket, or out through the window.

The Colzer CD190S is ETL listed and backed with a 2-year manufacturer warranty and five years on the housing, ensuring the product’s long lifespan. Since this is a fairly new model at the time of writing, there aren’t many customer reviews we can find and it’s still too early to tell how reliable this commercial dehumidifier will be after months and years of use.

PROS
• High moisture removal rate
• Large coverage area
• Easy to use controls
• Portable, stackable rugged design
CONS
• Not many reviews yet

Colzer 145 PPD Crawl Space Dehumidifier

Colzer 145 PPD Crawl Space Dehumidifier

Colzer also offers a commercial grade dehumidifier built specially for crawl spaces. With an airflow rate of 206 CFM, the CD70P removes up to 145 pints of moisture from the air per day at saturation, and 70 pints per day under AHAM conditions. It can cover large crawl spaces up to 6,000 square feet or basements up to 3,000 square feet.

The control panel mounted on the side includes the LCD digital display where you set the target humidity level between 30% and 80% RH, and view the ambient humidity and temperature. The timer function enables auto start or auto stop from one to 24 hours, running the dehumidifier only for a specified time to save energy. Alternatively, you can use the Colzer remote controller (sold separately) so that you can adjust the settings without getting into your crawl space or basement.

Perhaps the best feature of this crawl space dehumidifier is the included built-in pump with drain hose. The pump can push out the condensate up to 16 feet vertically towards a basement sink or out a window, through a drilled hole in your door, or into your sump pump. The condensate pump features a float switch that triggers the motor to run only when the water in the reservoir tank is at a certain level.

It’s recommended that you operate this unit in temperatures above 41°F. When frost is detected on the internal components, the automatic defrost system stops the compressor and melts the ice to prevent any damage caused by frost buildup. If your crawl space often gets cold, then your dehumidifier may shut off to defrost in longer periods, as opposed to other models designed with advanced technologies to operate in lower temperatures.

The Colzer CD70P is built with a heavy-duty steel exterior to operate effectively in harsh conditions like in basements, crawl spaces, or garages. However, with a rated Energy Factor of 1.8 L/kWh, it’s definitely not the most energy efficient crawl space dehumidifiers you can get at this capacity. Considering its price, though, it’s one of the best deals you’ll find.

PROS
• Powerful moisture removal
• Remote control option
• Affordable price
CONS
• Low energy efficiency
• Heavy for its size

Consumer Feedback

The Colzer commercial dehumidifiers receive mostly positive customer reviews from multiple online platforms. Colzer offers easy to use, low maintenance yet powerful, industrial grade dehumidifiers for large spaces and many different applications.

The Colzer 232 PPD model is commonly used as a replacement for portable household dehumidifiers. Due to its capacity, it’s equivalent to at least two to four 50-pint portable units for three times the price. A few reviews mention that there is significant change in relative humidity within less than 24 hours of use. It’s also effective in keeping large warehouses or storage areas free of excess moisture. However, like any dehumidifier, actual performance varies depending on the size of your space and the level of humidity. A smaller version of this unit is also available in 164 PPD capacity.

Meanwhile, the Colzer CD190S portable commercial dehumidifier gets ratings at both extremes—mostly five stars at this time, except for the scattered, dissatisfied one-star reviews. While it’s still too soon to judge, based only on its features and price, this Colzer unit is well on its way to becoming a strong competitor in the market.

Lastly, the Colzer CD70P is one of the few crawl space dehumidifiers that come with a built-in pump. This is surely a plus for Colzer. Overall, Colzer commercial dehumidifiers work effectively when used for the right purposes. If you’re not too concerned about energy efficiency, then this brand offers some of the best deals you’ll find today.
